The most critical area is preparation for the photography session. Even if you are just an experienced photographer, read some tips from magazines on best poses, shot settings and portrait ideas. You need to have an alternate plan in case something does not go as expected. Get extra memory cards, batteries, cameras and if possible attends the rehearsal dinner. Look for an assistant to take photos of visitors in other tables as you concentrate on the high table.

Communicate with the couple regularly, especially during the last few days of the ceremony. Let the pair explain what it expects from you. Likewise, let the couple know what you will deliver. Go over the list of shots with the couple and make any adjustments according to their wish.

Arrange with venue organizers for a visit to familiarize with the environment. This is important since you will understand the obstacles that will hinder effective photography. It will offer a chance to think of corrective measures to overcome the problems. Ask restrictions there might be for the venue during the d-day. Some may become issues of interest and unforgettable to the visitors after the event. You may capture the site of birds flying in the back yard, canopies, and children playing. Do not wait but take the pictures immediately.

You have to be creative in your artwork. Go for incidental pictures. A picture of the bride having her hair done, relatives meeting for the first time about 20 years ago and the first dance of the couple is a good look at the album. However, avoid photos of guests eating. Similarly do not force visitors to take snaps. Take several photos of guests in a jovial mood.

Get a series of memorable shots as the couple is leaving the church. You may encourage additional guests to encourage the couple as you take documentary like style photos.
