How To Burglar Proof Your Home

By Maryl Joop

In these difficult economic times, people are often desperate for money to put food on the table. Some people may turn to robbery in order to make a few dollars.

If you've never been through the process before, you'll want to know the 4 things you should prepare before you sign in a renter. The following four steps will help you prepare your home to rent safely.

This, however, is not a great attitude to have about protecting your home. There are definitely things you can do in order to more soundly burglar proof your home.

One of the main things you can do is make your home as unappealing to thieves as you can. Make sure that you don't leave any garbage or boxes at the side of the street.

Next, write a contract. Determine whether or not you want them to renew monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Set a monthly rental price. Research the market and find out what the fair market value for a home like yours is. Price competitively. Ask yourself how you would like to let your residents out of the contract should they need it.

Take time each day to think. Think about what happened that day, and what you can learn from the events of the day.

It's best to just avoid that possibility altogether. If you're planning on going out of town or on vacation for any amount of time, there are important precautions to take.

This won't apply to all situations as normal problems-like an air conditioner breaking-wasn't their fault. In these cases you will have to pay for the repairs yourself. Should there be any major damages obviously caused by the renter, you should be able to charge them for fixing the damages. For another, you should consider what kind of habits you will allow.

Have a neighbor come and collect your mail and newspaper every day that you're not at home. Another precaution you should take is to try to monitor your lights.

You can purchase timers that go on your lamps that will turn them off and on at regular intervals. This makes it so it looks like someone is home. You can also invest in motion-sensor lights, so that robbers will more likely be scared off when they approach the perimeter of your home.

Their credit history will show how trustworthy they are to make payments on time. Their criminal history will help you determine if you can trust their intentions, integrity, and overall honesty.

Another thing you can do to improve your quality of life is to debate an argument. If you think you know quite a bit about a topic, try debating an issue related to that topic with someone who holds an opposing view.

Make sure to close the blinds on all the windows when you're not home so a burglar can't look inside and see all of your belongings. You could even turn the ringer down on your phone so a burglar can't listen in and know that you're not home.

Follow up with managers they used to live under to find this out. Once you've cleaned up the house, decided on a contract, set a list of rules, and screened your candidates properly, you can rest assured that you have done the job well.
