Southwest Edmonton and the Terwillegar Community

In southwest Edmonton there is a relatively new neighborhood known as the Terwillegar Community. Terwillegar is bordered by four major streets, 23rd Ave to the north, Terwillegar Boulevard to the south, 142nd street to the east and finally 156th street at the west end. Within this picturesque neighborhood, you will find beautiful well-kept properties that are relatively new. Since all residences were built after, 1995 most of these homes are in excellent condition. Throughout you will find a majority of single family homes with a few condominiums and duplexes scattered about, most of the single-family residences are owner occupied dwellings.

Terwillegar is an active and vibrant community that offers many benefits to its residents. In addition to a local community garden residents enjoy charity benefits at the local rec center, playgrounds and parks for the little ones and much more. All of this is protected by an active neighborhood watch program. As you can imagine family and community are very important in this community, all members work hard to provide a gorgeous, friendly and safe neighborhood for all the residents. There are regular community wide social events, which promote a sense of community for all.

The beauty of this community is overseen by the Terwillegar Gardens Homeowner’s Association. They take care of fences, grounds, gardens and all other landscaping issues. For the young and old alike the Terwillegar Recreation center is a popular destination. If water fun is more your speed the Aquatic Centre offers two diving boards, a five meter diving platform and an eight lane pool. For the more laid-back individuals the steam room or 30-person whirlpool is a great place to relax while the children enjoy water slides, tot pool, lazy river and wave pool with spray features.

The Terwillegar Rec Centre also features some state-of-the-art fitness facilities, including a 206 metre indoor walking and jogging track, outstanding fitness equipment, and two separate studios for classes and exercise programs. Child-minding services are available in the Children’s Wing, which comes complete with an indoor playground and three rooms for children’s programs. The SUBWAY Arena features four NHL-sized ice rinks complete with 20 dressing rooms, and seating for over a thousand spectators. The Flexi-Hall offers three full-sized gymnasiums that can be adapted for all manner of sporting and community events.

If fresh produce, great food and entertainment are your cup of tea, a visit to the Southwest Edmonton Farmers Market is mandatory. Musicians and street performers entertain while you browse great food booths and fresh produce stands. Southwest Edmonton Farmers Market is an ardent supporter of local artists and performers of all types are encouraged to apply for permission to perform.

Are you looking for a year round park? Terwillegar Park is fantastic at any time of year with beautiful trails that are perfect for leisurely strolls, a morning run or biking. How would you like an off leash dog park for your furry friends? Here they can run, jump, play and make new buddies.

Edmonton may be a big city, but you can still enjoy an awesome small community atmosphere in the Terwillegar Community. This community is active, family oriented and safe, the perfect environment for you and your family to live.
